Privacy policy

We keep this short and plain. It explains what we collect, why, who sees it and what you can do about it.

Last updated 18 October 2026

1. Who we are

Nect Me is a digital ID for events, made in collaboration with Orbit Luna. The company that decides how your personal information is used (the "data controller") is Nect Me.

You can reach us at hello@nectme.co or through our help page.

The short version. We collect only what we need to make your ID work. You choose what other people see. We do not sell your information, and we do not use advertising cookies.

2. What we collect

What you give us

  • Your account: your name and email address, and your Google name, email and profile picture if you sign in with Google.
  • Your ID (persona) details: headline, company, industries, a photo, a signature if you add one, and any links or contact details you choose to add, such as phone, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook or a website.
  • Your sharing choices: which details are visible, and whether each event host may see your email.
  • Events you join: which events, when, which persona you used and, if you answer, up to three reasons you are there. Reasons are shown to other guests only as an anonymous count of the whole room.
  • Your list: the people you add with a thumbs-up, any private note you write, and where you met them. Only you can see your list and notes.
  • Events you host: event details, guests, the audience you build and invitations you send.
  • Help requests: messages, screenshots, ticket history and chat conversations you send to us.

What we collect automatically

  • Cookie-free usage statistics. We count page visits, scans and sign-ups using a random-looking code made from your IP address and browser details that changes every day. We do not store your IP address, and the code cannot be traced back to you.
  • Security records. We briefly use your IP address to limit repeated attempts, for example to stop someone trying to guess links.
  • Email delivery records. We log that an email was sent to an address and whether it succeeded, to fix delivery problems.

What we ask permission for

If we switch on Google Analytics or Google Tag Manager, or an embedded map, we ask you first where the law requires it. They are off until you accept. See our cookies page.

4. Who we share it with

  • People you share with. Anyone who scans your QR or opens your link sees the details you have switched on. People who add you to their list can see a little more, as you have chosen.
  • Event hosts. When you join an event, the host sees your name, persona details and which industries you chose. They see your email only if you say yes.
  • Our service providers. Web hosting, email delivery (our SMTP provider), and, if enabled, Google (sign-in, maps and analytics) and Apple or Google Wallet when you add your ID to a wallet. They may only use your information to provide their service to us.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising.

Some providers, such as Google, may process information outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum.

5. Events, organisers and your choices

Event organisers are separate controllers of the information you share with them, and of any audience list they build. They must follow our organiser rules, which require that they only email people who agreed, or who they have a lawful reason to contact, and that they honour every unsubscribe. Every invitation includes a one-tap unsubscribe link, and we keep a record so that the person is not emailed again through Nect Me.

8. Keeping it safe

We use secure connections, store passwords and sign-in tokens only in protected form, limit who can see data, and check for abuse. No system is perfectly secure, so please look after the device and email account you use to sign in.

9. Changes and contact

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you on the site and by email where we can. The date at the top shows the latest version.
